The History of American Central Insurance Services

American Central Insurance Services is a comprehensive independent insurance agency located in Springfield, Illinois with additional offices in Charleston, Illinois and Virden, Illinois. It was established in 1987 by Stan Travelstead. From the beginning, the mission was to provide individuals, families and businesses with the best opportunity available for purchasing insurance products while maintaining a delicate balance between cost and quality.

In 1999, American Central Insurance Services expanded their employee benefits offerings by creating a Third Party Administrative service department so that consumer driven health care products could be administered in house, such as, Section 125 plans, Health Reimbursement Arrangements, Health Savings Accounts and COBRA administration.

2006 brought us to our current location. In a continued effort to better service our clients, we built a new building on the west side of Springfield. This was a substantial project, and the facility is now equipped with multiple conference rooms and new technology. This enables us to better serve the public by educating them through seminars and lunch and learns.

In 2007 American Central Insurance Services invested in a technology system known as MyWave. It is an interactive tool that allows all of our clients around-the-clock access to the Insurance & HR Community forum, with access to benchmark surveys and valuable documents, such as legislative updates, compliance guidelines, links to industry resources, and the ability to contact us whenever the need arises.

Today, over 20 years later, American Central Insurance Services works with businesses, individuals, and families throughout Central Illinois and the Midwest. We have a well educated, experienced staff that enjoy what they do and are driven to be successful. We represent the needs of our clients and potential clients by utilizing our insurance marketplace expertise and valued contacts to search out the best products, develop our services, and negotiate the best price.
